Jesus spoke of the other Comforter, the Holy Spirit as “He,” and not as an “it.” He is a divine Person with the mind and knowledge of all things of God. He knows all things that concern us. Through Him according to God’s Word, we can know those things that are freely given to us of God in Christ Jesus (I Corinthians 2:9-12). The Holy Spirit has the mind to know what we need and how to help us. When we do not know what we should pray for as we should, He knows and prays for us. He searches our hearts and knows His mind of God’s will, purpose, and vision, and He makes intercession for us according to the will of God which is the Word of God (Romans 8:26-27). The indwelling Holy Spirit teaches, reminds, leads, guides, and testifies of the things of Jesus (John 14:16,17,26; 15:26; 16:13-15). The Holy Spirit illuminates or enlightens God’s Word to cause us to see or understand the spiritual truths of God revealed in Christ Jesus. He reveals the spiritual truth of the knowledge, understanding, wisdom, and power of God’s Word in knowing the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; so we may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding (Ephesians 1:15-23; Philippians 3:10; Colossians 1:3-13). The Holy Spirit reveals sin, convicts, reproves, and exposes something as it really is (John 3:20; Hebrews 4:12-13). He reproves concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:7-13).
The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity who is equal with the Father and Son in essence, separate in Person, and submissive in duties. The Holy Spirit does not speak of Himself or focus on Himself; He only speaks of Jesus and glorify Jesus (John 16:14). God so loved the world of sinners that He gave His Son who loved the world of sinners that He died for us, and the Holy Spirit so love the world of sinners that He revealed the Son Jesus to us that we may believe in Him and receive the gift of salvation (John 3:16-17). This is the love of the Persons of the Trinity.
